Fullnode installation instructions with Umbrel by Nerdminer.de

  1. Click on the link https://download.umbrel.com/release/latest/umbrelos-pi5.img.zip to download the Umbrel software for your Bitcoin full node
  2. Then unzip the downloaded file “umbrelos-pi5.img.zip”.



  3. Click on the link https://etcher.balena.io/#download-etcher to download the microSD card flasher software. Select the appropriate software version for your PC.



  4. Install the downloaded software “belenaEtcher” from your download folder onto your PC.



  5. Start the program "BelenaEtcher". Insert the microSD card into the included USB adapter and plug it into the PC. Now select the unpacked Umbrel file using the "Flash from file" button. If the USB microSD adapter is not automatically selected, select the USB adapter/microSD card using the "Select target" button and start the process by clicking on "Flash!".






  6. After flashing is complete, insert the microSD card into the device. The printed side of the card must face backwards.



  7. Connect your full node to the network port with the network cable to your router. Also plug the Raspberry Pi 5 power supply into the USB-C port. Only use the ORIGINAL POWER SUPPLY! After a short wait, the device is ready for use and can be set up via your browser within the same network . To do this, simply enter http://umbrel.local in your browser. a.




  8. Then click on the "Start" button to create your personal Umbrel account. The username and password you have provided will only be used to access your full node and will only be saved on your device. To do this, select any name + password and then press the "Create" button.




  9. After your account is set up and you have pressed the “Next” button, the “Bitcoin Node” app will be installed.





  10. Open the "Bitcoin Node" app directly after installation via the home screen. The synchronization of the Bitcoin blockchain will then start automatically. It currently takes about 3 days for the blockchain synchronization to be completed. The duration also depends on your internet bandwidth. Once the blockchain is completely synchronized, you can also use other apps such as Mempool, Lightning Node, LNBits and many more.
