Bitcoin Beach Grants
Bitcoin Beach, in collaboration with Geyser and the Federation of Bitcoin Circular Economies (FBCE), has launched the Bitcoin Beach Grants to encourage the development of Bitcoin circular economies worldwide. The initiative aims to support emerging Bitcoin ecosystems through education, increased merchant adoption, and various community projects.
The program includes a fund distribution of 0.5 BTC, approximately $31,129, distributed across 22 projects with different grant sizes (.05 BTC, .02 BTC and .01 BTC).
A special pool of 0.1 BTC will also be available after the initial application review, managed by a global review board, to support additional deserving projects. This ensures a far-reaching impact on numerous Bitcoin circular economies internationally.
Application process and impact
The process for potential grant recipients involves attending online workshops, after which they will submit their applications for review. Bitcoin Beach, a pioneering community for Bitcoin in El Zonte, El Salvador, serves as a foundational model for this effort. It has played a notable role in promoting Bitcoin's legal tender status in El Salvador.
The success of El Zonte’s Bitcoin-based economy inspires this grant to adapt and tailor similar initiatives in different global communities according to local needs and priorities.
